This is a free plugin

Pods is a free solution for creating custom fields, Custom Post Types, and custom taxonomies. It has 20 field types.  There is some templating ability and conditional logic available using Pods templates, shortcodes, and “magic tags.”

It has the option for storing the custom fields of a Custom Post Type is a separate database table, which would be a performance boost for large data sets. Development has been slow and feature-wise the plugin has fallen behind. This has led the main developer to create premium addons for better page builder integration.

The ability to create Gutenberg blocks using pods is currently in beta. Pods does not currently have support for repeater fields. Pods has its own free addon to make it easier to work with Beaver Themer. There is also a new program to provide premium third-party addons including a page builder toolkit that allows access to custom fields in Beaver Builder, Beaver Themer, Divi, Oxygen and other builders.

Pods - The Good

Pods has a popular Beaver Themer extension.
Pods bi-directional relationship feature is easy to use.
With Pods you can define an Advanced Content Type and save the data in its own database table.
Pods has the option to save custom fields using database tables instead of Post Meta.
Pods is GPL licensed.

Pods - The Bad

Pods is poorly documented and the existing documentation is out of date.
The user interface is dated.
The Pods templating ability works, but is somewhat primitive, will require HTML and CSS, and is not a visual building experience.
